Since the year 2018 to 2020, a lot of great Nollywood celebrities had been recorded dead. 

It actually painful losing these Nollywood stars who shined so bright that their movies which they acted on, indeed touched our lives positively.

So, here are the list of Nollywood celebrities that are dead in the year, 2018 to 2020.

1. Uduak Akrah

Actress Uduak Ahkra

The pretty actress who hails from Akwa Ibom state in south-south Nigeria and have been in the entertainment business for over 20 years.

She received a Diploma in Theatre Arts from Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos State and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Arts from the University of Lagos.

She was best known for films like ‘Emotional Crack’ and ‘Bafana Bafana.’

Indeed, she was a great philanthropist before death took her.

Cause of Death: Complications from a fall in the bathroom.

Date of Death: 25th August, 2018.

2. Chike Osuji

Actor Chike Osuji

Veteran Nollywood actor, Chike Osuji, who hails from Umuokoro Awaka in Owerri North Local Government of Imo State in the south eastern part of Nigeria.

He was the special assistant to the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) on media and publicity.

Before the death of Nollywood veteran actor, he has been featured on some of Nollywood movies which include; ‘The Book of Harragon’, ‘40 Days in The Wilderness’, ‘The Governor’, ‘Bleeding Tree’, ‘The Kingdom on Fire’, and many more.

Cause of Death: Heart Attack.

Date of Death: 14th August, 2018.

3. Aisha Abimbola

Actress Aisha Abimbola

The Yoruba star actress, who hails from Epe, Lagos, was popularly known for her role in a Yoruba movie ‘Omoge Campus’. She graduated from Lagos State Polytechnic after studying hotel management and catering.

Being born into a Muslim family, the actress later on left her religion to become a Christian.

Before going to the other side of the world, actress Aisha Abimbola had bag an award for the City People Entertainment Award for Yoruba Movie Personality of the Year.

Cause of Death: Breast Cancer

Date of Death: 15th May, 2018.

4. Nora Nkeiruka Ugo

Actress Nora Nkeiruku Ugo

One of Nollywood star actress, who died of Fatal Pulmonary Embolism after Uterine Artery Fibroid Embolisation (fibroid treatment surgery), after being diagnosed with Uterine Fibroid Embolization.

She was popular for her roles in movies and TV series such as ‘Hawkers Vs Hawkers,’ ‘Diary of a Confused Teenager,’ ‘Husbands of Lagos,’ ‘Love and Age,’ and ‘Warriors of Satan.’

Cause of Death: Illness - Terminal Disease.

Date of Death: 28th January, 2018.

5. Ezeora Nelson Oluchukwu 

Actor Ezeora Nelson Oluchukwu

Young Nollywood actor, Ezeora Nelson Oluchukwu well-known as “Nelson Gold”. Who hails from Ogowo Umunevo Amagunze, Enugu State.

Being a fast rising actor before his death, Nelson Gold, who graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He played the lead role in one of Nollywood movies titled ‘Black Child’.

Cause of Death: Unknown

Date of Death: 15th June, 2018.

6. Moses Olaiya Adejumo

Actor Moses Olaiya Adejumo

One of Nollywood legends well known by his stage name as “Baba Sala”. He is a well respected Nigerian comedian, dramatist and actor, who hails from Ilesha, Osun State, Southwest Nigeria.

He has played a great role in some of Nollywood movies like, ‘Aare Agbaye’, ‘Mosebolatan’, ‘Obee Gbona’, ‘Diamond’, ‘Agba Man’, ‘Return Match’ and many more.

After his death, Best of Nollywood Magazine announced that the category "comedy of the year" will now be known as "Moses Adejumo Comedy of the Year" to honour him for his contribution to the industry.

Cause of Death: Old-age Related Sickness.

7. Abe Ishola Monsurat Olabisi

Actress Abe Ishola Monsurat Olabisi

Nollywood Yoruba actress, popularly known as “Bisket”. Who was a member of Lagos Island branch of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN.

She was also the CEO of Bisket Movie Concept. It was after 10 days of childbirth, she was announced dead by her close friend, Omolola Olumide on Facebook.

Cause of Death: Heath Challenge.

Date of Death: 30th March, 2019.

8. Prince Dammy Eke

Actor Prince Dammy Eke

Nollywood actor, film director, writer, television personality and model, who was indeed very good at what he does.

He was a great philanthropist, who care more for children. 

He was said to have slumped and was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Cause of Death: Unknown.

Date of Death: 2nd April, 2019.

9. Gbenga Akintunde

Actor Gbenga Akintunde

One of Nollywood great actors, popularly known as “Burger”. His death was the first to be recorded in the entertainment industry, 2019.

He died at the hospital, and this was made known by Kunle Afod, who was an actor and producer.

Cause of Death: Malaria.

10. LinChung Duke Oliver

Actor LinChung Duke Oliver

Nollywood actor, who was were known as “Silvanus” in the popular sitcom ‘Do Good’.

He once worked at Star FM on a radio programme alongside a few other comedians.

He was reported to have died after his mom's burial.

Cause of Death: Auto Crash.

11. Rotimi Alfred Popoola

Actor Rotimi Alfred Popoola

Nollywood Yoruba actor, well-known as “Ilu Venture” was indeed a great veteran actor.

He has featured in several Nollywood movies including ‘Aiye Foreign’, and ‘Ropo Ijogbon’.

His death was annoyed by the Abeokuta chapter of Theater Arts and Motion Picture Producer's Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN.

12. Adewale Olanrewaju 

Actor Adewale Olanrewaju

Nollywood young Yoruba actor, popularly known as “Ishow Larry” was a great actor and a producer. 

It was reported that he began his career as a make-up artist on the movie set before taking up full time acting and later producing.

Cause of Death: Unknown.

13. Benson Akindeju

Actor Benson Akindeju

One of Nollywood's greatest producer, who hails Igbotako in Okitipupa local government of Ondo state.

He was the MD/CEO of AK Media and Big Soul Hotel and was also the producer of TV series like; ‘Face-2-Face’, ‘Family Ties’ and ‘Nowhere To Be Found’.

Before he died, Benson Akindeju was known for many great things in his career and he was married with children also.

Cause of Death: Cancer.

14. Jennifer Omole

Actress Jennifer Omole

Nollywood fast-rising actress, who hails from Edo State was a indeed a great film maker also.

She was a movie producer and CEO of JennisFilms Production Ltd. She produced ‘Stolen Vow’ alongside Uche Ogbodo, Jibola Dabo, Daniel Lloyd and a host of other Nollywood actors.

Jennifer was also a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Spain chapter and she was said to have passed on in Spain where she resided.

Cause of Death: Unknown.

15. Kayode Odumosu

Actor Kayode Odumosu

Veteran Nollywood actor, who was popularly known as “Pa Kasumu”. He began acting as a teenager where he played a debut role in 1968 in a stage play ‘Iyawo Orun’.

Pa Kasumu was a household name in the Yoruba movie industry until he went off radar due to his illness.

Cause of Death: Biventricular Heart Failure.

Date of Death: 1st March, 2020.

16. Alkali Matt

Actor Alkali Matt

Nollywood actor, who was popularly known as “Dareng” died while filming on set for an epic movie in a village near Keffi.

He was popularly known for his role as Dareng in the African Magic series ‘Halita’.

However, controversial journalist, Kemi Olunloyo claimed the actor died because he had contact with someone who tested positive for Coronavirus at the AMVCA 7.

Actor Frank Dallas

Nollywood veteran actor, who hails from Ohafia in Abia State, was popularly known as “Adedibu” or “Killer” in movies.

He was also the former public relations officer of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Lagos chapter.

Before he died, he has been featured in some of Nollywood movies like ‘Emotional Pains’, ‘A Night to Remember’, ‘Back II Back’, ‘Blind Love’, ‘Sweet Love’ and ‘Hit The Street’, starring alongside with the likes of Jim Iyke and Hanks Anuku.

Cause of Death: Cardiac Arrest.

Date of Death: 19th February, 2020.
